Dr. Lisa Robbins

Dr. Lisa L. Robbins is a Senior Scientist at the USGS Center
for Coastal and Watershed Studies in St. Petersburg FL. From
1999 to late 2005, she served as Chief Scientist and Center
Director, overseeing approximately 170 employees in St.
Petersburg, Tampa, and Virgin Islands. She also served as
Board of Director, Science Chair for the USGS Florida
Integrated Science Center, which included all 7 USGS offices
in Florida and Virgin Island field station. She is currently
a member of the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program U.S.
Advisory Committee where she serves as Chair of the
Education and Outreach Committee, is ex officio member of
the Board of Directors of the St. Petersburg Downtown
Partnership, and serves on Tampa’s Museum of Science and
Industry Board of Directors. Dr. Robbins has scientific
research record in the fields of molecular paleontology and
marine biogeochemistry. She was a Professor of Geology at
the University of South Florida for 11 years, where she
served as the Interim Head of the Department of Geology and
was the director of the Molecular Paleontology and
Biomineralization Laboratory. Dr. Robbins received her Ph.D.
in Marine Geology and Geophysics at the University of
Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science
in 1987.
